SEVENTEEN fans have taken a stand against MOVES.
On September 12, a post titled “SEVENTEEN fans express concerns about HYBE NewJeans’ situation” went viral. Since then, the post has been viewed nearly 60,000 times as of this writing.
In the post, the author uploaded several tweets from prominent SEVENTEEN fans. In one of the tweets, the fan made it crystal clear that HYBE’s treatment of NewJeans was wrong.
Hi, I’m an artist. I’d like to raise a somewhat weighty issue. I’ve been very disappointed by the actions of Pledis and by extension Hive this year.
In particular, I think the current environment surrounding NewJeans (sorry if I mentioned other bands) is so wrong. I hate what Hive does to other artists…

I’m here to say something a little harsh. I’ve been extremely disappointed with Pledis and HYBE this year. In particular, I think what they’re doing to NewJeans is extremely wrong. Now I’m worried that the attacks on other artists could one day affect our members.
I ask HYBE to return the NewJeans environment to its normal state so that NewJeans can safely promote as it did in the beginning. I also ask HYBE to stop committing such disappointing acts. I am sorry if this made you uncomfortable, but I am writing this because I feel like my voice could be a little louder than others. I hope you understand.

In another tweet, another prominent SEVENTEEN fan expressed concern over HYBE’s actions.
I’ll say it only once…
I don’t even know where to start or how far to talk.
I can’t tell you how many times I’ve cursed at Pledis and Hive this year…The actions they take towards their artists are, from start to finish, things that cannot be considered a normal agency, and the way they view their fans is also very evident…

Is it acceptable for a label to push their artists towards criticism so that the label executives can hide behind them? What they are doing to NewJeans is so disappointing and I wonder every day if this is how you treat your artists. I also think that the members of SEVENTEEN could face a similar fate.

Netizens reacted to the posts by praising SEVENTEEN’s fans. Many also expressed concern that what is happening to NewJeans could happen to their other artists.
- “Sure, they think so. They are not immune to what is happening in New Jeans.”
- “To be honest, that’s how everyone should feel. The label is literally using their artists as shields, who knows who’s next.”
- “SEVENTEEN fans will know the difference between the pre-HYBE and post-HYBE Pledis days. Although they are in a nicer building, nothing good came of it for the fans.”
- “As a GFRIEND fan, the only thing I can say that is different from other fans is that I have seen things like this before. We couldn’t protect our group because we weren’t strong enough, but I hope no one else goes through something this late… Honestly.”
- “Fans should be nervous because their artist could be the next target if they do something to piss off the management. Think about how HYBE would destroy them if they didn’t renew their contract.”
- “It’s a relief that there’s at least one big fandom that’s normal.”
- “It’s amazing. I have so much respect for them.”
