South Korean ballad trio SeeYa, consisting of members Nam Gyu-ri, Kim Yeon-ji and Lee Bo-ram, has officially announced the reunion of the entire group after 15 years apart, with plans to release new music and hold fan events to celebrate the group’s 20th debut anniversary.
The group revealed on March 12 that they will release a preview single by March, hold a fan meeting in Seoul and release a full album in May. SeeYa originally debuted on March 12, 2006, dropping this announcement on the 20th anniversary of their first release.
“To celebrate SeeYa’s significant 20th anniversary, we have come together with one heart for our fans,” the three members said in a joint statement. “After long discussions, the members decided to repay the fans who have waited for 20 years,” allkpop.
The pre-release single scheduled for March will be an emotional ballad that reflects the meaning of their twenty-year journey and their reunion.
All three members participated in writing the song’s lyrics, which convey a message of love and gratitude to longtime fans. A fan meeting will be held at a venue called Idols in Seoul’s Jongno district on the same day the single is released.
The full album, expected in May, will feature producers Park Geun-tae and Kim Do-hoon, both of whom worked with SeeYa during the group’s peak years in the mid-to-late 2000s. Many tracks on the album will also feature lyrics written by the members themselves.
Since each member is currently contracted with a different agency, the trio plans to establish a project company under the name “SeeYa” to independently manage the group’s activities in the future. chosun reported.
Members emphasized that this return is not simply a trip down memory lane. “This reunion is not simply a nostalgia trip but a new beginning as artists,” they said. “This time, we want to present SeeYa music that we truly want to create, without relying on past formulas or other people’s decisions.”
SeeYa first rose to fame after debuting in 2006 with hit ballads such as “A Woman’s Scent”, “Love’s Greeting”, “Shoes” and “Crazy Love Song”. The group won numerous rookie awards in their debut year and took home Golden Disc Awards in the digital music category in 2007. They officially disbanded in January 2011.
Fans have long been hoping for a reunion. The three members briefly appeared together on JTBC’s “Sugar Man 3” in 2020, raising expectations for a comeback, but it fell through at the time due to internal circumstances.
With the reunion now confirmed, the Korean music industry’s attention is focused on what SeeYa will offer as this new chapter begins, as per Sports Khan.
