According to recent Taiwanese media reports, Chiung Yao died at her home at the age of 86.
After the news broke, reporters contacted Ruby Lin to ask her reaction. Overcome with emotion, Ruby Lin was speechless. He expressed his deep sorrow, stating that Chiung Yao was the first benefactor in his life.
Ruby Lin rose to fame after playing Xia Ziwei in Chiung Yao’s “My Fair Princess”. The drama served as a launching pad, catapulting Ruby from an unknown actress to a prominent young star. Her pure and delicate appearance captured the hearts of viewers, many of whom declared Ruby’s portrayal of Xia Ziwei to be the most iconic.
Over the years, Ruby Lin has consistently expressed her gratitude towards Chiung Yao. Every year he sent birthday wishes to the author and willingly participated in other Chiung Yao productions, such as “My Fair Princess II” and “Flowers in Fog”.
Chiung Yao, born April 20, 1938, was a famous contemporary Taiwanese novelist and screenwriter. Many of his works, including “Outside the Window”, “Between The Water and Cloud”, “My Fair Princess” and “Mist Over Dream Lake”, have been adapted into films and television series.
Throughout her life, Chiung Yao had prepared for her own death. He once expressed: “In life, may I be a flame, burning brightly until the end. In death, may I be a snowflake, falling softly and returning to dust.“
In a letter to his two sons written at the age of 79, Chiung Yao expressed his wishes for his death. He said he didn’t want a traditional funeral. Instead, it called for no public announcements, no memorial service, no burning of joss paper and just a quiet, private farewell.
