Kim Kardashian’s Skims brand has found its biggest collaborator yet with superstar Rosé as the face for its Valentine’s Day launch, but the line has been met with scrutiny from fans.
BLACKPINK’s Rosé, fresh off the release of her solo debut Rosie, in December, is certainly no stranger as a model and brand ambassador, having previously worked with luxury icons Yves Saint Laurent and Tiffany & Co.
Skims announced via Kim’s Instagram, noting that the big V-day campaign will go live on Thursday, January 23 at 12pm ET.
“Her elegance and energy are unmatched, she is the perfect Valentine for 2025. This collection is romantic, fun and full of personality, and ROSÉ captured that beautifully,” Kim said in a press release.
The Skims founder, however, quickly deleted the announcement tweet, as fan comments poured in criticizing her for a recent Instagram story she shared of Melania Trump at Trump’s inauguration.
There has been criticism from those who have seen problems with Kim’s political allegiances, questioning his closeness with the Trump family.
“Girls getting married is creepy, I wrote,” one commenter wrote.
“They are cut from exactly the same cloth,” said another.
Rosé fans have openly criticized Kardashian, some accusing the founder of using rosé as a political pawn.
“Kim posting Rosé’s Skims campaign today is trying to sabotage my queen,” one commenter said.
“Not Kim Kardashian uses Rosé for damage control,” another tweeted.
Some, despite feeling excited and proud of Rosé for landing the brand deal, expressed a desire to boycott the Kardashian brand.
“By the way, Kim Kardashian also posted Melania on Instagram yesterday… I’m happy for Rosie but I don’t support that family,” one fan said.
Others felt the criticism, especially of Rosé, was extreme, as Kim has been open about her affiliation with the Trumps in the past.
“Yeah, okay, I’m not even a huge Skims fan, but were you all gagging over Sabrina, SZA, and Lana’s Skims shots? Why do a 180 when it comes to Rosé?” a fan asked.
