Riku suspends all activities, including upcoming NCT WISH tour
On October 22, SM Entertainment released a statement informing fans that NCT WISH member Riku will be taking a temporary break from all group activities due to health issues. According to the announcement, Riku recently experienced a “deterioration in his health,” which led his doctor to recommend an immediate hiatus to focus on healing. As a result, Riku will not participate in NCT WISH’s upcoming event “2024 NCT WISH ASIA TOUR LOG in JAPAN,” scheduled start on November 3rd.
“Riku was recently in the hospital due to worsening health, and after being examined, a doctor told him he needed a lot of rest and stability,” the statement read. “We considered our artist’s health our top priority, so after serious discussions with Riku, it was decided that he would focus on his treatment and recovery.”
“Therefore, starting today, Riku will not participate in scheduled activitiesand when the time comes that he can return to activities in the future, we will let you know,” he continued.
“Consequently, the ‘2024 NCT WISH ASIA TOUR LOG in JAPAN’ which begins on November 3 will proceed with [the remaining] five members: Zion, Yushi, Jaehee, Ryo and Sakuya. We ask for your generous understanding regarding this fact,” the statement concludes.
Riku’s health problems
This decision comes after Riku’s previous absences at several events, including the Dream concert 2024where he was noticeably absent from the group’s performances due to similar health issues. Fans have expressed concern, especially given his ongoing health issues, but SM Entertainment has underlined its commitment to supporting Riku’s recovery, prioritizing his well-being above all activities.
The sudden announcement has brought an outpouring of support from fans who are now sending well wishes and messages of encouragement to Riku via social media. Although fans will miss his presence during NCT WISH’s tour and other commitments, SM Entertainment has assured them that Riku will return when he is fully recovered and ready to rejoin the group’s schedule.
