Lee Young Ae took the stage as a replacement host, as the previous year’s award winner, Lee Jung Jae, was absent.
First joint participation in an awards ceremony in two years
Lee Young Ae’s presence with her husband, Jung Ho Young, attracted significant attention. The couple was seen sitting together, whispering to each other, and Jung was photographed looking warmly at Lee while taking photos with fans.
The couple first made headlines by appearing together in public at the 12th Beautiful Artist Awards in 2022, marking this event as their first joint appearance at an awards ceremony in two years.
Age gap of 20 years and wealth of 2 trillion won
Lee Young Ae, born in 1971 and currently 53 years old, secretly married Korean-American businessman and Raycom Korea president Jung Ho Young in 2009. At the time, it sparked interest as Jung was 20 years older than Lee and owned substantial wealth of around 2 trillion won, along with a notable romantic past.
Jung Ho Young’s previous wife was actress Kim Soo Ryun, who later remarried actor Park Young Gyu after their divorce. Additionally, Jung’s relationship with former actress Shim Eun Ha attracted a lot of attention, especially after their engagement ended just two days before their wedding in 2001. Since marrying Lee Young Ae, the couple has been giving the welcome fraternal twins, a son and a daughter, born in 2011.
Lawsuit against YouTube channel Open Mind TV for claiming ties to Kim Keon Hee
Recently, Lee Young Ae filed a lawsuit against the YouTube channel “Open Mind TV” and its representative, Jung Chun Soo, for defamation and spreading false information.
Last year, Lee donated 50 million won to the Syngman Rhee Memorial Foundation for the construction of a memorial hall. Open Mind TV released a video suggesting that this donation was linked to President Yoon Suk Yeol and First Lady Kim Keon Hee. In response, Lee filed a defamation complaint with the Yongsan Police Station against Jung.
The case was initially transferred to Yangju Police Station, which decided not to prosecute. However, after Lee’s team appealed, the case was sent to the prosecution, and in June this year, the Uijeongbu District Prosecutor’s Office ruled against the prosecution. Lee’s side appealed again, leading the Seoul High Prosecutor’s Office to order a new investigation last August.
