Diogo Jotathe late Liverpool star, and his brother – who previously played for Portuguese club Penafiel – both tragically died in a car crash in northern Spain this summer. Since then the world of football has been in mourning. Both players’ clubs held moving commemorations around the world in the months that followed.
However, during a video tribute in honor of important football figures who passed away last year, real Madrid mistakenly used the image of Andre da Silva, a player currently playing for Elche in La Liga, instead of Andre Silva, the late brother of Diogo Jota.
📝 Real Madrid apologizes for the commemorative error
“Real Madrid CF apologizes to Elche CF and to the player Andre da Silva for having mistakenly included his image in our commemorative video, instead of that of Andre Silva, brother of Liverpool player Diogo Jota. We regret this unfortunate mistake,” the club posted on social media after correcting the video.

After the video was broadcast during the club’s Annual General Meeting, real Madrid President Florentino Pérez also offered his direct and personal apologies for the incident.
