CLAMPthe popular hip-hop survival show “RAP: PUBLIC” officially announced that the footage of KOALA will be removed. The announcement was made following the producer-rapper’s involvement in the a recent assault incident involving a young Jessi fan.
KOALA will be removed from new episodes of “RAP:PUBLIC.”
On October 25, representatives for the show stated: “From episode 4 onwards, footage involving KOALA has been edited. Future episodes will also be edited accordingly. This decision highlights the show’s commitment to maintaining a positive viewing experience despite the controversy surrounding the incident.
“RAP:PUBLIC” is a high-stakes hip-hop competition where contestants compete in rap battles, emphasizing both lyrical skill and strategy. KOALA, who was an active competitor on the 6Block team, was a notable figure on the show. His sudden exit has sparked discussions among fans, especially considering his track record in the industry as a producer. He has previously collaborated with notable artists, most notably working with Jessi on popular hits such as “What Kind of X”, “Cold Blooded” and “NUNU NANA”.
The controversy surrounding KOALA began on September 29 in Gangnam, Seoul. During this incident, a minor fan of Jessi, known as “A”, requested a photo with the artist. However, instead of a positive interaction, “A” allegedly suffered verbal abuse and physical assault from someone accompanying Jessi. Jessi, who attempted to defuse the situation, immediately left the scene and later clarified that she did not know who was responsible for the initial attack.
Further investigation revealed that KOALA was also involved. CCTV footage showed KOALA threatening the fan, allegedly pushing his stomach and pushing him with his head. This revelation intensified the backlash, as KOALA’s actions and his professional connection to Jessi increased the severity of the case.
