Rain reflects on empty seats before US tour: ‘I thought full audiences were a given’

In the latest episode of his YouTube variety series Season BK-pop legend Rain (Jung Ji-hoon) has given fans a rare glimpse into the emotional toll of his recent preparations for a U.S. concert tour, revealing how he’s struggled with self-doubt and anxiety over slow ticket sales.

In the video titled “Rain’s reaction to empty seats”released on December 18, the artist opened candidly: “As I prepared for the US tour, I felt uneasy. Ticket sales have to reach a certain point for things to progress, but when I quietly checked the ticketing site, most of the seats were still blue.” (On many ticketing platforms, blue indicates unsold seats, while gray indicates sold seats.)

Rain admitted that the slow start made him question whether the tour was a good idea. He sighed deeply as he confessed,
“I thought, ‘Is this worth doing?’ I felt completely drained, and to make matters worse, there was another performance the day before mine, which meant the stage had to be reset in just seven hours. In New York, no less.

Despite the setbacks and mental load, the day of the concert brought a surprise: the venue was completely filled.

“I didn’t know. Apparently in America, ticket sales have increased in the last week,” he said, visibly relieved.

Moved by the turnout, Rain reflected on how his mindset had changed over the years: “When I was younger, I thought packed places were normal. But now, just knowing that people come to visit me is deeply touching.”

This moment of humility and vulnerability resonated with fans, who praised Rain not only for his perseverance but for his honesty in sharing the behind-the-scenes emotional realities of being a global artist.
