‘Racist’ and ‘Disgusting’ – ‘SNL Korea’ Comes Harshly Criticized for Parodying NewJeans Hanni’s Presentation at Audit

SNL Korea recently their last episode where they parodied aired NewJeans HanniRecent appearance at an audit. Hanni spoke out against workplace bullying, sharing her experience and testifying against her company’s managers.

SNL Korea parodied her, using telling moments like when a board member tried to take a selfie with her…

…and when he talked about what he experienced.

The episode received criticism for its parody of such an important and sensitive topic.

• It makes them look low quality.
• It’s racist to copy a foreigner’s pronunciation… They even parodied the Nobel Prize-winning writer Han Kang.
• The way they copied his pronunciation is excessive…
• I knew they would… This is an embarrassment to our country.
• Is it fun for them?
• Think about what it would be like if a Korean went to testify in an audit in America and SNL copied his English pronunciation. Would it be fun?
• How did they think of using it as material? It’s so disgusting.
