Early on December 24, Dispatch published a report regarding WINNER member Song Mino, who was accused of “poor performance” in his duties as a public service employee. The report included instances where the idol allegedly neglected his responsibilities and manipulated his presence.
This was immediately followed by a statement from his agency YG Entertainment that the idol’s situation at the Mapo Resident Convenience Facility was difficult to verify.
However, he assured that Mino’s frequent annual and sick leave cited in the report were used in accordance with policies, and the reason for these holidays was only an “extension” of the treatment the idol had received before starting the his service.
Following this controversy regarding careless behavior, Mino faced backlash from netizens. This became more evident on January 5, when Korean netizens gathered in a community forum titled: Winner Korean fans truck protest regarding Song Mino in front of YG.
The author posted two images showing a protest truck insisting that WINNER is a three-member group excluding Mino. The request stated how the agency should guarantee the group activities of WINNER members Jinu, Hoony and Yoon.
The truck also highlighted YG’s insensitivity and the need for the agency to cooperate. It stated: “YG, state your intention to cooperate with the investigation responsibly and not remain silent.”
Another request read: “We ask for OT3’s protection from the false facts that are accumulating due to YG’s non-compliance.”
Although none of the statements specifically mentioned Mino, the absence of his name in any of the requests implied the truck’s intention to sue Mino for his dispute and isolate him from the rest of the group.
