On March 30, more videos were uploaded to a YouTube channel called Kim Mi Hyun Productions, showing pre-debut movies of the members of Blackpink under YG Entertainment. The leaked clips, which seem to be internal evaluation recordings, present the trainees who perform covers of well -known songs before their official debut in 2016.
While the losses aroused a widespread interest from fans and the general public, particular attention was attracted by the use of the word N in different covers of the songs. The spectators noticed that the members Jennie, Lisa and Rosé were present in some of the videos using the racial insult during the performances of rap songs in English.
This is not the first time that K-Pop idols have been put on fire for cultural insensitivity, in particular involving the use of racial insults or appropriateing black culture. In this case, the fans of the group are climbing to defend the member, supporting, “He was young and he didn’t know what he meant”, while others ask for formal apologies. Others claimed that, especially for Jennie and Rosé, who grew up in English -speaking environments, there should have been more awareness and sensitivity.
In addition, suspicions emerged that the movie could have been manipulated or generated by the AI, although no clear evidence has been provided.
Are you telling me that the idols that the whole identity is a drafting of blacks are also racists ???? Everyone behaves shocked! https://t.co/wc9fmqlbs2

Not even directed against them, but I have always found it so strange than how more idols YG have these predebut clips that say the word IDK exactly what is my point but it looks like an ATP model https://t.co/jzbfz7kezccc

Starting now, YG Entertainment has not issued any official declaration regarding the legitimacy of the leaked movie or the use of the offensive language within it.
The discussions on idols and their responsibility when it comes to cultural awareness continue to resurface over and over again, especially when K-pop becomes more global.
Do you think this video has been misunderstood or is it time for idols to take responsibility?
