This is not the first time they face similar criticisms.
XG They were put on fire for some of their new merch objects.
On March 15, XG social media accounts announced a special collaboration between the group and Didu and Yueqi Qi brands. The collaboration was to consist of several articles, including T -shirts, caps and baseball caps all designed by the brands.
The initial announcement was accepted with excitement; However, once the visual elements of the merch have been revealed, many have expressed indignation.
The goods were thus listed, but the baseball cap attracted attention due to an extra detail added to design.
The sphere cap, described as a “scarf camo cap”, included a more piece of fabric instead of the typical back of a cap that divided into two points.
Many online have found this “scarf” reminiscent of a Dug, a protective hair garment typically worn by blacks. Dugs have also evolved to be part of the culture of black fashion despite the criticisms that individuals face when they wear them.
Therefore, when non -black individuals try to claim these elements like anything else except what they are and are praised to do it, they are accused of cultural appropriation.
The brand behind the design, Didu, has similar articles listed on its site for about 146 USD. Dugs can be commonly found for sale for less than five dollars, an extra detail that has infuriated many.
The Netizen criticized XG, who was accused of cultural allocation on several occasions, for the merch element and requested the removal.
The way in which XG constantly does cultural appropriation to the maximum degree, but some of their fans are hell in acting as if it didn’t exist is really crazy .. like what you want to say you are selling a chopped dug and calling it a “scarf”? pic.twitter.com/jdmaqjhsbn

I cannot and I will not speak on behalf of all the Alphaz, but as an administrator of this account based on the United States and as a black Alphaz, I will not support this commodity and I think it is harmful to the black community and for the reputation of that girl: please reconsider. https://t.co/ogobfqiudb

Their creative team has always traveled a thin line when it comes to things like this. They do enough, therefore it is not clear, which makes it easier for the PPLs to defend them, and enough to have the idea of what they were looking for and that in itself is a problem. https://t.co/iakqz4dqry
