Police: Former NCT’s Taeil Reported for Sex Offences in June, Victim is Adult Woman

On August 29, the Bangbae Police Station in Seoul confirmed that it had received a report regarding allegations of sexual crimes against Taeil in June and was currently investigating the matter.

According to police, the victim, identified as Ms. A, is an adult female. Specific details, including the exact nature of the charges and the timing of the crime, were not released.

Previously, on August 28, Taeil’s agency, SM Entertainment, released an official press release confirming that Taeil had been criminally charged with a sex crime and announcing his departure from the group.

SM Entertainment stated: “We recently confirmed that Taeil had been criminally charged in connection with a sex crime. As we verified the facts, we recognized the seriousness of the matter and decided that he could no longer continue his activities with the group. After discussions with Taeil, we decided that he would leave the group.”

They added, “Taeil is fully cooperating with the police investigation and we will provide further updates as the investigation progresses. We deeply apologize for the trouble this has caused our artist.”

Taeil debuted in 2016 as a member of NCT’s first unit, NCT U. He has also been active in NCT’s main group and as a member of NCT 127.
