TVN’s new reality program Perfect glowwhich follows South Korea’s top beauty experts as they open a K-Beauty salon in Manhattan, saw a disappointing decline in viewership, dropping to 0.8% in its second episode after starting at 1.1%.
The show stars Ra Mi-ran, Park Min-young, Joo Jong-hyuk, Cha Hong, Leo J and Pony, combining professional experience, star power and entertainment value in a “K-Beauty New York takeover” concept. The program promised new content as the cast explored “second careers” outside of their primary professions, bringing new charm and dynamics to the screen.
Ra Mi-ran, as the CEO of the salon nicknamed “LaSseo”, welcomes customers with a warm and motherly attitude. She showcases her signature “Kkukkukku” (decorative, elegant, repeatedly polished) outfits, blending traditional Korean aesthetics with modern fashion for each episode. His leadership anchors the salon, guiding the staff and creating a welcoming atmosphere.
Park Min-young serves as the salon’s consulting manager. She quickly rose to fame from day one, exemplifying K-Beauty professionalism and listening carefully to customer concerns. He also assists the team in an almost magical, “Doraemon” way, providing everything needed to keep operations running smoothly.

Joo Jong-hyuk, formerly known for Kwon Mo Sul-soo, was retrained as the salon’s “Shampoo Guy”, practicing for about two months to master the art. Although he is still a beginner, his charm, wit and sweet demeanor help put customers at ease. Its presence guarantees the correct functioning of the salon, acting as the operational “lubricant” of the program.
Despite the promising cast and concept, ratings were disappointing. Perfect glow debuted with a 1.1% rating and dropped to 0.8% in the second episode. The program airs every Thursday at 10.40pm KST.
While the show has attracted attention for introducing K-Beauty to an international audience and highlighting the allure of its stars, it faces challenges in translating its unique concept to large numbers of viewers.
