Park Yoochun was acquitted of ₩500 million in damages as the lawsuit was dropped by former management company

Singer-actor Park Yoochun, who canceled his retirement and resumed his career in Japan, is now legally off the hook in a ₩500 million (about $375,000) damages lawsuit filed by his former management company. The lawsuit was unexpectedly dropped after reaching the Supreme Court, erasing any remaining financial liability.

According to Star News on January 16, management company Loud Fun Together officially dropped the damages claim against him and his former agency Riciello on January 8. Park’s legal team also withdrew their counterclaim. This action reverses the previous ruling requiring Park to pay ₩500 million plus interest.

Despite denying for many times, Park Yoo Chun is still positive for this banned drug during the examination of the National Institute of Forensic. Park Yoo Chun’s lawyer said he was trying to find out how Philopon got into his client’s body.

A legal source told Star News, “Since the plaintiff has closed the complaint against some defendants, the obligation to compensate the damages of the second trial also ceases.”

Previously, in September 2025, the Seoul High Court ruled that Park Yoochun and Riciello were jointly liable for ₩500 million in damages for breaching an exclusive contract. The court found that Park had violated both the agreement and a court order by continuing entertainment activities through a separate agency without prior approval.

Park had appealed the ruling to the Supreme Court in October 2025. However, with the lawsuit now dismissed, the case has formally come to a close.

The legal conflict arose from a 2020 agreement in which Loud Fun Together was given exclusive rights to manage Park’s businesses until 2024. But in May 2021, Park unilaterally terminated the contract and began working with another agency run by an acquaintance, triggering the legal dispute.

Although Loud Fun Together obtained a court order to ban him from television appearances and promotions, Park has continued with concerts and endorsements, recently resuming activities in Japan and returning to Korea with few signs of slowing down.

Park Yoochun's lawsuit is dropped

Park Yoochun has faced numerous controversies in recent years. In 2016, he was listed as having failed to pay over ₩409 million in taxes. In 2019 he was convicted of methamphetamine use and received a 10-month prison sentence suspended for two years. Notably, he had previously held a press conference denying the drug charges and promising to stand down if the charges were found guilty and later found to be false.

In 2023, the Korea National Tax Service included Park in its list of habitual tax delinquents and tax evaders, citing over ₩200 million in unpaid taxes for more than a year. Despite continued public backlash, Park continued his career, mostly outside Korea.
