Park Seo Joon reflects on “Surely Tomorrow” and his close bonds beyond acting

Actor Park Seo Joon shared his heartfelt thoughts after the JTBC drama ended Definitely tomorrow during an interview held on January 15 at a bar in Gangnam, Seoul. The series, written by Yoo Young Ah and directed by Lim Hyun Wook, tells a bittersweet yet deeply emotional love story about Lee Gyeong Do (Park Seo Joon) and Seo Ji Woo (Won Ji An), former lovers who reunite under complicated circumstances involving a scandal and unresolved feelings.

In the drama, Park Seo Joon played Lee Gyeong Do, a seemingly normal office worker and entertainment news editor who lives a quiet and routine life but approaches love with complete sincerity. An unexpected accident reconnects him with his first love, forcing him to face the excitement of the past, lingering pain, and emotional uncertainty in the present. Won Ji An played Seo Ji Woo, the second daughter of a fashion conglomerate, whose glamorous appearance hides unexpressed wounds.

Park Seo Joon explained that he doesn’t consciously try to maintain relationships, even though he is often described as someone with extensive connections. He shared that when people click naturally, checking in and meeting happens organically whenever time allows, especially given the unpredictable nature of his work schedule.

When asked how he maintains close friendships with people from different fields—such as soccer star Son Heung Min, BTS’ V, and singer Sung Si Kyung—Park Seo Joon said that the conversations often overlap regardless of profession. Some friends talk about acting, others about life, but in the end the topics seem similar. He said he enjoys sitting down with a drink, diving into deep conversations about life, describing those moments as infinitely pleasant.

Speaking about his personality, Park Seo Joon admitted that although people may see him as outgoing, his basic temperament hasn’t changed much. He tends to be quiet with those closest to him and says that even during interviews he makes a conscious effort to talk more. He added with humor that seeing others work hard to keep the conversation going made him realize that he is, too doing his best.

Reflecting on his 15-year acting career, Park Seo Joon said that time seemed to pass without him noticing because he rarely took long breaks, often moving from one project to another thanks to good timing and good opportunities. However, he acknowledged that the year-long break he took two years ago was extremely helpful. That period of rest rekindled his passion, and Definitely tomorrow it became a project that made him want to hear “boiling” to act again.

During the hiatus, he intentionally spent less time in Korea, traveling to slow down and reset his mindset. Instead of worrying about work, he focused on enjoying every day, which helped him rediscover a healthier lifestyle.

Looking ahead, Park Seo Joon said that he currently feels full of energy and wants to continue acting consistently for the next few years. He is rebuilding his daily routine – exercising, studying languages, running and maintaining physical and mental health – hoping to make the year ahead balanced and healthy.

He also modestly reacted to the trend of newborns being called “Seo Joon,” joking that popular dramas often influence baby names. Although flattered, he emphasized his responsibility to be a positive example and promised never disgrace the name.

As for how Definitely tomorrow will remain in his career, Park Seo Joon believes that it is a drama that reveals a deeper meaning when rewatching it. He hopes that viewers who enjoy analyzing stories will find lasting emotional depth and a strong aftertaste persists long after the final episode.
