Park Min Young says she drank 3 liters of water a day while filming ‘Mermaid’s Kiss’: ‘I Became Darker’

On February 23, production press conference for “The Siren’s Kiss” it took place via TVING and Naver TV. In attendance were Park Min Young, who plays Han Seol Ah, the head auctioneer of the Royal Auction; his co-stars play an insurance fraud investigator and the CEO of an IT company; as well as the director of the drama.

“The Siren’s Kiss” tells the story of a woman suspected of insurance fraud whose irresistible charm attracts people, and of a man who begins to suspect her involvement in the deaths surrounding her, leading him to dig deeper into the truth.

Speaking about his character Han Seol Ah, Park Min Young revealed, “In the drama, my character doesn’t eat. Since so many tragic events happen around her, she survives on water and alcohol even at home.”

He continued, “She is extremely lonely when alone and also suffers from panic attacks. I felt that I shouldn’t gain weight for this role. While filming this project, I fasted and drank 3 liters of water a day.”

Park Min Young added that she has since returned to her usual self. “Now I’m back to the original me. I thought keeping myself emotionally darker suited the character. I’ve really turned into a dark version of myself,” he confessed.

He also expressed gratitude towards the production team and cast. “I am grateful to the director for choosing actors who really immerse themselves in their roles. The atmosphere on set was really nice,” he said. “It’s a warm, friendly atmosphere, but once filming starts, everyone immediately focuses. It seems like we all get into character within three seconds.”

In the meantime, “The Siren’s Kiss” the premiere is scheduled for March 2 at 8:50 pm KST.
