Over 200 Female Idols Found In Deepfake Porn, Netizens Are Disgusted

Recently, the international spotlight has been on alleged sex crimes occurring in Korea. These crimes, collectively called “The New Nth Room,” consist of several Telegram-based chatrooms with two different purposes.

The first to be reported were the huge chatrooms aimed at humiliating women, sometimes even their family members; soon after, school chatrooms, used to send fake sexual messages about classmates, attracted attention.

In an effort to spread awareness about the crimes that are occurring, netizens have brought to attention the fact that hundreds of female idols are victims of deep fake pornography.

According to a Security Hero report shared by Wall Street JournalSouth Korea is the country most vulnerable to deepfake sex crimes. The report found that out of nearly 96,000 videos from ten deepfake porn sites and 85 deepfake channels on video-sharing platforms analyzed over two months, 53 percent of individuals appearing in deepfake pornography were Korean singers and actors.

Several tweets on X have spread awareness of these deep fake websites created for female K-Pop idols. One website in particular features the names of over 100 female idols from nearly every generation of K-Pop, including several fifth-generation groups.

Deepfakes are pornographic, showing idol faces superimposed over existing sexual content or real photos of stars doctored to appear nude. The site has been constantly updated, with new images uploaded on the day this article was written.

There are also several sites with this type of content available, apart from general porn sites. Netizens have shared their disgust, urging idol agencies to take action against these deepfake images.
