After “Drip”, “Clik Clak”, “Really like you”, Babymonster continues to publish the exclusive version of the song “Billionaire” – a song in the album “Drip”. The video was released not long ago, but now it has obtained almost 34 million views and trends #15 in the Vietnamese YouTube music category. However, after the video has been released, the international online community was outraged by the controversial corner of the camera for Chiquita, the youngest member of Babymonster.
In particular, in the performance of Babymonster “billionaires”, Chiquita has many dance moves that are considered increasingly progressive, standard idol behaviors and different from “non -mature” in the first videos from the moment of its debut.
However, the angle of the camera that YG has given to Chiquita in this video is considered extremely offensive when shooting near her buttocks while performing sexy dance moves. This makes many Netizen heard out of the way because Chiquit is currently only 16 years old, but YG has let a female idol at the age of adolescence carried out sexy dance moves and “attacks” a corner of the camera that makes “roast”.
This is not the first time that YG has been criticized for allowing idols to have sensitive situations. Previously, in the middle of 2024, when Babymonster performed the song “Forever” on stage “Inkigayo”, the costumes of Chiquita and Ahyeon were considered short of age. In particular, the youngest member of Babymonster, Chiquita, wore a strapless top combined with a short skirt, making it easier to have wardrobe malfunctions when performing strong dance moves.
In the meantime, Ahyeon was no exception, while YG dressed it in a dress that exposed life and back, together with a short skirt. Many believe that since 6 members out of 7 Babymonster are still minor, YG allows them to wear inappropriate clothes by age or use suggestive camera corners could have a significant negative impact on artists.
The sexualization of idols for opinions and fame is not new in the Korean entertainment sector. More recently, the case of the cignature of the women’s group has aroused indignation among the Netizen, leading to hard criticism.
To worsen things, their agency even released a reaction video with the members who watched their MV.
In the reaction video, the facial expressions of the members showed surprise and discomfort, although they did their best to suppress their emotions.
Many spectators felt with the heart broken after seeing the reaction video, while the members of the cignature appeared on the point of tears in seeing their excessively suggestive images.
