On November 11, Oh Yeon Soo posted a video titled “1st Anniversary of My YouTube Channel / Just an Ordinary Birthday” on her channel. In the video, she directly addressed the growing criticism of celebrity YouTubers, stating, “The purpose of my channel was never to show off in front of others, and I’m definitely not an attention-seeker.”
He further explained, “I started YouTube with the idea of turning my daily life into a visual diary. I understand that some people may find some parts of it uncomfortable or disagree with my point of view. But no matter what others say, I intend to stay true to my original concept. This is the format I have chosen and I will continue at my own pace, just as I have done so far.”
Oh Yeon Soo added that he sees his channel as a personal album that he can revisit later in life, “Something I can look back on when I’m older, something I can watch from anywhere in the world as long as I have access to the internet.”
Reflecting on her content journey, she shared, “As I look at my video gallery, I thought about whether I had truly put my heart into this video diary over the past year. And I can confidently say that my original intention hasn’t changed at all.”
She also mentioned touching comments from viewers who encouraged her to stay true to herself: “There were comments that really resonated with me. They said, ‘Don’t try to get better,’ ‘Don’t worry about expensive cameras,’ ‘The way you are now is the best,’ and ‘Please don’t change.’ Those words gave me a warm sense of comfort and affection.”
Concluding the video, she promised to continue creating content as she had initially planned: “Even if I’m not perfect, I will stay true to my original vibe. I will maintain a balance, without too much or too little, sharing my emotions and my rhythm and enjoying YouTube without stress.”
Oh Yeon Soo has been married to actor Son Ji Chang since 1998 and they have two children.
