NU’EST member Ren to begin military service

On September 3, his agency, BPM Entertainment, released an official statement confirming the news of his impending enlistment.

“On Thursday, September 26, 2024, Ren will begin his service as a social worker,” the statement read. “In accordance with the system, he will begin his duties immediately without being admitted to a training center. There will be no further official procedures, so we appreciate your understanding.”

“To ensure that Ren’s service runs smoothly, please refrain from visiting its premises,” it continues. “We ask Minracles (Ren’s official fan club) to offer its warm support and best wishes to Ren as he fulfills his military obligations and returns to good health.”

This announcement comes shortly after Ren’s NU’EST colleague JR (Kim Jong Hyun) revealed that he would be entering the military in September. Ren’s enlistment marks another significant chapter for the former boy group members as they fulfill their military obligations.

Choi Min-gi, Known professionally as Ren, he first rose to fame as the lead vocalist of NU’EST, when the group debuted in 2012. With his distinctive look and captivating stage presence, Ren quickly became a fan favorite. NU’EST has had a successful decade-long career, releasing numerous hits and cementing their place in the K-pop industry. However, in March 2022, the group’s contract with PLEDIS Entertainment expired, forcing Ren, along with JR and Aron, to part ways with the agency and pursue individual careers.

After his departure, Ren signed with BPM Entertainment and pursued a solo career, continuing to explore music, acting, and television. As Ren prepares to enlist, fans also show him their unwavering support, eagerly awaiting his safe return and his future plans once his service is completed.
