Nobel Prize winner Han Kang reveals that AKMU’s song helped her write her book

Nobel Prize winner Han Kang revealed that this AKMU song brought her to tears while in a taxi, and also helped her write her book “I Do Not Bid Farewell”.

After releasing the novel in 2021, Han Kang appeared on her publisher’s YouTube channel, where she revealed that AKMU’s 2019 song “How Can I Love Heartbreak, You’re the One I Love” inspired her writing.

“I finished writing the first draft and got into a taxi when this song started playing,” she revealed. “I thought it was a familiar, well-known song, but the last part of the lyrics took on a completely different meaning, and I found myself crying without even realizing it.”

Han Kang also described the lyrics that resonated greatly with her: “How could I, for you / Our love as deep as the ocean / Waiting for it to dry up will be our goodbye.”

With this passage, the novelist reflected, “It’s impossible for the ocean to dry up. But that image came to mind, and I remember shedding tears in the taxi like someone with a story.”

AKMU song sees a boost in the charts

After Han Kang’s mention, AKMU’s song “How can I love the heartbreak, you’re the one I love” rises in the charts.

According to MelOn, the song began its resurgence on Thursday, climbing as high as No. 34. Then, it ranked at No. 27 on Friday on the same music chart, and even climbed as high as No. 23 on Saturday.
