NMIXX received a very harsh review for their latest track “See That?”. The review criticized some aspects of the song, which also led to mixed reactions from fans.
On August 19, NMIXX finally released their third mini album “Fe304: STICK OUT” and its title track “See That?”
However, on August 27, South Korean music critic IZM published a review of the song, and rated the track one out of five stars. Reviewer Jung Gi Yeop mainly emphasizes how “See That?” reprised what “Dash” did for NMIXX.
“NMIXX’s color seemed to have been established with the release of ‘Dash,’ but now it’s back to being ambiguous. The song mixes hip-hop with fairytale melodies, but is met with turbulence rather than synergy that forges its strengths.”
The author also stated that the song’s bassline was a throwback to Seo Taiji’s “Comeback Home” and that this factor led to predictable results.
The song was also criticized for being “too cautious” and for the fact that the group’s pop mix had lost its substance, rather than being a precursor to a new musical innovation.Compared to their previous release which reflected them well, this song seemed unnatural.,” said the critic.
Jung Gi Yeop then said that NMIXX has “regressed” despite its gradual success in 2023. The critic also said that NMIXX’s “OO” and “See That?” were similar in their “unfamiliarity.”
“It’s a shame that the song doesn’t showcase NMIXX’s individual abilities. It’s also important to know that a simple and understandable approach is more necessary than an enigmatic path.”

In a community forum, fans expressed mixed opinions about the review. Some said the criticism was spot on, while others had differing opinions about the new song and NMIXX’s musical direction. Read their comments below:
- “Dash” was so good that this song felt a little disappointing, but it’s getting more and more compelling.”
- “They went from easy listening songs with a hint of NMIXX like ‘Dash’ and ‘Run For Roses’ to back again to unlistenable NMIXX pieces like their debut song.”
- “Me too. Honestly, I felt like ‘Dash’ was legendary, so ‘See That?’ felt like a disappointment. They should have released ‘See That?’ first and ‘Dash’ later.”
- “I honestly don’t understand the direction JYP is taking towards them.”
- “But I like ‘See?’.”
- “To my ears, the song is just okay.”
- “I liked it, I watched all the stages.”
- “I don’t care what the critics say.”
- “I totally agree. They got good reactions from both sides of the pond with ‘Dash’ because it wasn’t jarring and it felt like a sound and a concept they could claim and do well with.”
- “It’s not terrible, but man, it seemed like it would never end. ‘Dash’ and ‘Run For Roses’ were good.”
