This escalation marks a critical turning point in the “ADOR situation,” which began last April with an audit against former ADOR CEO Min Hee-jin and others, which could now lead to a contract dispute.
According to the music industry, NewJeans, under their real names – Kim Min-ji, Hanni Pham, Danielle June Marsh, Kang Hae-rin and Lee Hye-in – sent this formal notification.
In the notice the members asked: “Correct all major violations of the Exclusive Agreement within 14 days of the date of receipt of this notification.”
The specific corrective actions requested by NewJeans were not disclosed.
NewJeans said: “HYBE has decided to “abandon New (referring to NewJeans) and start over” and then take all necessary actions as the management company of NewJeans. In the HYBE Music Industry Report (internal monitoring document) recently confirmed by the National Assembly audit, there was a sentence: “We struggled for days with the wording around New-I-LE (NewJeans, ILLIT, LE SSERAFIM), but it would be easier to discard the New and start over.’“
The five members personally signed the last page of this constitution in default.
NewJeans pointed out: “If ADOR does not accept the rectification requests, the exclusivity contract will be terminated. Unfounded rumors are currently circulating about the families and relatives of NewJeans members. NewJeans has no connection to these rumors.”
They added: “If anyone spreads false rumors to defame NewJeans, we will respond firmly.”
In this regard, a representative of ADOR told Maeil Business Star Today: “We have not yet received the formal notification supposedly sent by NewJeans, so we have no comment to provide.“
