On October 18, Minji held a live broadcast with Hanni through the paid communication platform Phoneing.
During the broadcast, Minji said: “I was only able to watch the first part of Hanni’s speech to the National Assembly. I had a plan. Once I was done, I looked it up and saw there were about 100 photos of her crying.”
Hanni jokingly replied “Who took those photos? Talk to me for a moment“, showing a relieved expression.
Minji clapped and said, “In my heart I was screaming, ‘That’s my girl!’“
The day before, October 17, Danielle shared her thoughts after seeing Hanni at the hearing. She remembered rushing to hug Hanni when Hanni returned to the dorm crying. Danielle said: “I told her many times how hard she worked. She is a truly amazing sister. I watched it from start to finish, and I was so nervous too.“
He continued: “I am very grateful to the Bunnies (the NewJeans fandom) who went to the hearing to support her. Thanks to them, I think Hanni has gained even more strength. I hope a lot of people saw and felt something from it.”
Meanwhile, on October 15, Hanni appeared as a reference at the hearing of the Environment and Labor Committee of the National Assembly. She testified that she was bullied at work.
Regarding the comment made by a manager of a HYBE-affiliated label to “ignore her”, Hanni said: “Not only that incident, but from the first days of our debut, whenever I greeted the senior officials, they did not recognize me even once. Growing up in Korea I learned that you should be respectful towards elders, but when they didn’t say hello to me, I thought it was disrespectful as a person. Only those who have experienced it can understand.“
After the hearing, Hanni expressed her feelings to fans: “A thousand thanks. Bunnies, you worked hard. I’m so grateful and I don’t even want to cry. I can’t stop the tears. I’m really, really grateful.“
