Hyein’s appearance at the airport became a hot topic online, as netizens claimed that the young idol had received a “cold” reception from Korean media. This was later followed by netters lashing out at HYBE and accusing the company of alleged media gaming.
On September 29, K-netz gathered in an online thread titled “The Media Lineup of the 3 Female Idols Who Left Korea on the Same Day.” The post also mentions two other idols, who are (G)I-DLE’s Minnie and BLACKPINK’s Jennie.
The OP then shared that Minnie and Jennie attracted multiple reactions from different Korean outlets, but Hyein only received attention from one, namely Newsen.

In the comments, netizens couldn’t help but compare Hyein’s reception to that of the two idols, pointing the finger at HYBE and accusing the multilabel of “controlling” the press. Most of their feelings also came from HYBE’s feud with ADOR and Min Hee Jin.
Read their comments here:
- “HYBE really gives me chills.”
- “HYBE really needs to undergo an audit by the National Assembly. It’s worrying to see how they manage to control the media at this point.”
- “So HYBE’s control of the media wasn’t a lie, wow.”
- “The truth is, other than Newsen, all of them went to play golf.”
Here’s how international fans reacted:
- “These Incels must be controlled. How can this evil HYBE cult still be supported? Hoping they fall soon along with Bang Si Hyuk.”
- “The commentator is right, having so much control over the entertainment media is really worrying.”
