The highly anticipated collaboration between Fortnite and popular K-pop group NewJeans is facing major hurdles and could potentially be scrapped. According to @Jorge_Most, a prominent social media influencer and Fortnite content creator, the collaboration project between the two popular brands is currently in a precarious situation.
Jorge shared, “The Fortnite x NewJeans collaboration is facing issues and may be canceled.” He also revealed that the main reason could be internal issues within the NewJeans group. These issues could affect the group’s appearance in Fortnite, even though the skins (character outfits) and concert (in-game performances) were already developed and planned.
In particular, Fortnite is a popular online video game developed by Epic Games. It is a sandbox survival game that combines elements of battle royale, tower defense, and survival.
While no official cancellation has been announced, Fortnite and NewJeans fans are concerned about the future of this partnership. Jorge stated that he would continue to monitor the situation closely and provide updates as new developments emerge.
Meanwhile, on the evening of September 11, NewJeans unexpectedly held a livestream titled “What NewJeans Wants to Say” on their newly created YouTube channel, nwjns, without going through their management company, ADOR. All five members expressed their frustration over former CEO Min Hee Jin being unexpectedly fired from HYBE and their concerns about the group’s future. They shared their grievances over working conditions, with Hanni revealing that she was intentionally ignored and isolated by a manager within HYBE.
NewJeans emphasized that they do not want to blindly follow all of HYBE’s orders and hope that Min Hee Jin will return as CEO to maintain the group’s progress. The livestream shocked the audience, as such direct exposure is rare in the industry.
The broadcast has received widespread support from Korean internet users, but there are concerns that NewJeans could face significant risks, similar to the situation of the group Fifty Fifty, in which three members were fired and sued after being influenced by outsiders and opposing their company.
