Netizens shouted MAMA Awards 2024 for allegedly rigging one of the major awards.
This year, MOM it featured four grand prizes or daesangs intended to highlight the best of that category. The awards for “Album of the Year”, “Artist of the Year”, “Fan’s Choice of the Year” and “Song of the Year” were awarded on the final two days of the event.
The “Song Of The Year” award was given to aespa for “Supernova,” a song that was undeniably a hugely successful and viral hit. However, two fandoms contested the “Song of the Year” category, directing their criticisms at her MOM and not the group.

The first complaints about the “Song of the Year” nominees began after the category was announced. Among the nominees were aespa for “Supernova,” BIBI for “Bam Yang Gang”, UI for “Love Conquers All”, YOU for “Magnetico” e New Jeans for “How sweet”.
Fans of THE SERAPHINS he wondered why the group was not included in the list of nominees, as the song “Perfect Night” was released during the time period in which songs could receive a nomination.
“Song of the Year” was decided through a mix of percentages based on judges’ ratings (40%) and song streaming/downloads (60%, with a 40% national/20% global split).
Early predictions predicted that “Perfect Night” would be nominated thanks to its worldwide performance, leaving many fans surprised when that didn’t happen. These same complaints resurfaced after the winner was announced.

The second group deemed “robbed” in this category was ILLIT.
According to the score, if LE SSERAFIM had not been nominated, “Magnetic” would have been the highest-scoring song. Netizens also compared data between tracks, claiming that ILLIT’s scores would be enough to secure first place.
