After almost a month of dominant rankings throughout Asia, “When life dà tanderines” has broadcast his last four episodes on February 28 and since then social media have not stopped crying.
Two moments, in particular, have conquered online discussions: the long-awaited marriage of Geum -myg (played by IU) and the emotional farewell of Gwan-Sik.
The marriage of Geum-Myeong’s wedding
The marriage of Geum-Myeong’s wedding quickly became a hot topic, but it was the last evening of Gwan-Sik that really broke the spectators. After witnessing the Ae-Soon dream to publish her poetry, lies next to her, reassuring her gently and delivering her last words, “Every time Ae-Soon cries, I seem to leave this world. If you cry, I won’t be able to fly away.”
A few moments later, Gwan-Sik collapses and the family crashes him in the hospital. The emotional weight crashes when he says geum-myeong, “The last face that our father saw of us … it was one.”
Gwan-Sik’s farewell and consequences
As many predicted from the trailer, Gwan-Sik starts in the final episode after 50 years of feet next to his beloved Ae-Soon. However, unlike the destinies of the other loved ones of AE-Soon, Gwan-Sik’s death does not come from the sea but slightly more peaceful.
The heartbreaking hospital scene and the devastated reactions of the remaining family have made almost unbearable for many spectators.
In the end, Ae-Soon remains in their home, quietly waiting for his daughter’s visits. Flashback of the younger days of the couple in the fields of Canola, full of peace and golden light, take place magnificently, combining the title of the final episode: “Congratulations to mom and dad for having lived a full life.”
However, even that peaceful ending was unable to prevent spectators from bending. As soon as the episode aired, the emotional clips of Gwan-Sik and Ae-Soon became viral through the platforms, with the spectators who confessed that they were in an uncontrollable way. Some even admitted to having skipped the ending entirely to save the heart.
