Despite its release scheduled for December 26, the second season of “Squid Game” already took first place in the charts two weeks before its release. Notably, it surpassed 20,000 points, demonstrating an overwhelming response. This figure far exceeds the 15,000 point score of “The Glory” Part 2, which ranked fifth two weeks before its release.
Won Soon-woo, Data PD at Good Data Corporation, predicted: “The rating achieved in the first week of its release is expected to break the all-time opening record. The cast of ‘Squid Game 2’ is also very likely to dominate the actor rankings.”
“Squid Game 2” is the sequel to “Squid Game,” which gained immense popularity with its shocking twists and thriller elements upon its release on Netflix. The first season is widely recognized as one of Netflix’s most successful series and was instrumental in introducing Korean dramas to viewers around the world.
At the time, “Squid Game” was viewed by 111 million subscribed households within 17 days of release. This figure significantly surpassed the previous record set by the first season of “Bridgerton.” It also marked the first series ever to reach 100 million views across all content.

Followed in order by tvN weekend drama series “Love Your Enemy,” Disney+ original series “Light Shop,” Netflix original series “The Trunk,” and tvN Monday-Tuesday drama series “Parole Examiner Lee.”
Ranking ninth was Coupang Play’s original series “Family Matters,” which showed a 52.8% increase in buzz compared to the previous week. KBS 2TV’s weekend drama “Iron Family” rounded out the top 10.
