Netflix faces backlash for poor subtitle synchronization during BTS’ Comeback Live

BTS’ fifth full album comeback show on March 21 at 8pm KST ARIRANG it was streamed globally via Netflix. While the show itself went off without a hitch, with no major incidents, many viewers watching at home expressed frustration with the event poor subtitle timing.

According to viewers, subtitles appeared 1-2 second delayoften showing lyrics that had already been sung.

While fans acknowledge that real-time conversations during the show could naturally cause delays in subtitles, many have pointed out that the the setlist and lyrics were pre-preparedmaking the issue more difficult to understand.

“Subtitles come out after the segment is already over,” some viewers complained, noting that it broke immersion while watching the show.

As a result, some viewers reportedly chose to do so turn off subtitles completely to enjoy the show more comfortably.

Meanwhile, BTS’ comeback marked their own first performance by the entire group in over three yearsfollowing “Still come to Busan” in October 2022.

Their new album ARIRANG also achieved enormous success, selling 3.98 million copies on the first dayfurther demonstrating the group’s global influence despite the technical issues surrounding the broadcast.
