Recently, netizens discovered that NCT’s Taeyong’s public Instagram account was among the people who liked a recent SNS update of aespa’s Giselle. Even though it is a harmless action, Taeyong faced backlash from netizens.
Notably, the post “calling out” Taeyong’s action attracted over 2 million views, with some comments and quotes speculating that the two were dating and condemning Taeyong for potentially causing a controversy.
However, most defend Taeyong. According to these people, there is nothing wrong with liking a fellow artist’s post, especially when they have performed together, are part of the same agency (SM Entertainment), and are also fellow ambassadors of luxury brand Loewe.
Some also pointed out that Taeyong also liked various posts from other artists, including a member of Red Velvet, and therefore his liking of Giselle’s post should not lead to dating accusations.
On the other hand, interactions between idols on Instagram are often disproportionate, leading to unwanted controversies.
In the past, EXO’s Suho confessed that he felt too embarrassed to like BLACKPINK’s Jisoo’s post.
Furthermore, when BTS’s V accidentally followed BLACKPINK’s Jennie in the past, dating allegations between the two surfaced and even a fanwar broke out.
