Who is Taeil?
Taeil, whose full name is Moon Tae-il, was born on June 14, 1994. He was the eldest member of the famous K-pop boy group NCT, and was the main vocalist.
On August 28, 2024, SM Entertainment released a statement stating that Taeil was no longer a part of NCT as he was being investigated for criminal cases related to sexual crimes.

Taeil Basic Information
Taeil was born in Seoul, South Korea. He graduated from the practical music department of Seo Seoul Life Science High School and Hanyang University, but eventually dropped out of the latter.
Taeil’s family consists of his mother, father, and a younger sister who is 3 years younger than him. He initially wanted to be a zookeeper, but ended up changing his dream and becoming a singer after listening to Stevie Wonder.
He was discovered by SM Entertainment in 2013 during a youth singing competition and is known for his ability to play the piano and guitar.
Taeil’s Career
Before his debut with NCT, Taeil participated in various SM Entertainment projects during his trainee period.
In particular, he participated in the opening performance of the SMTOWN WEEK concert in December 2013 and sang a song for EXO’s variety show “EXO 90:2014” in October 2014.
Taeil began appearing alongside SM Rookies members in regular concerts from August 2015 and was announced as an official member of SM Rookies in October 2015. He also participated in an OST for “The Merchant: Gaekju 2015”.
In April 2016, Taeil made his debut as a member of NCT’s first sub-unit, NCT U. In July of the same year, he was announced as a member of NCT’s second sub-unit, NCT 127.
Since then, Taeil has taken part in various NCT joint projects and sub-units, as well as several collaborations with other labelmates and artists.
Road accident + injury
Previously, in August 2023, Taeil was involved in a traffic accident in central Seoul while riding his motorcycle home after finishing his program early in the morning. He then took a break from group activities for several months to recover.
Controversy + NCT Abandonment
On August 28, SM Entertainment announced that Taeil had left NCT. According to the official statement, the male idol is being investigated for criminal cases related to sexual assault allegations.
According to the police, these charges do not involve same-sex minors. However, an anonymous account was discovered accusing Taeil of installing spy cameras on their phone, blackmailing them, and threatening to kill them since July 2024.
So far there has been no official confirmation regarding the above allegations.
