On February 24, Nam Ji Hyun sat down for an interview with Star News at a cafe in Cheongdam-dong, Gangnam-gu, Seoul. The actress recently wrapped up the KBS2 weekend drama “My Beloved Thief” (Dear thief,), which concluded on February 22 with a solid 7.6% rating for its sixteenth and final episode.
Second season of “My Beloved Thief”?
The finale sparked strong demand from viewers for a second season, especially after the epilogue showed Hong Eun Jo (played by Nam Ji Hyun) and Lee Yeol (Moon Sang Min) reuniting in modern times.
However, Nam Ji Hyun clarified that no official discussions about season 2 have taken place.
“There was absolutely no talk about the second season. The epilogue was supposed to seem like a surprise gift for the viewers,” he explained.
“We met in the hanbok the whole time, so appearing in modern clothes felt fresh. It was actually filmed at the very end, so it felt even more meaningful.”
She added that the overwhelming demands for another season make her feel proud.
“The fact that people are hoping for the second season means that they loved the drama so much. If the second season is made in an interesting way, I would love to do it too.”
Why did you leave “Good Partner 2”?
While Nam Ji Hyun expressed openness towards a second season of “My beloved thief”, fans were still curious about his decision not to join SBS “Good partner 2.”
The 2024 legal drama has become one of his most memorable works, particularly thanks to his strong on-screen chemistry with senior actress Jang Nara. Their powerful “woman-mance” dynamic was widely praised.
Addressing his departure directly, Nam Ji Hyun set the record straight:
“Honestly it was due to time and scheduling issues. It wasn’t about fun, it was about timing.”
He further reassured fans by expressing confidence in Jang Nara, who will continue to lead the series.
“Elder Jang Nara is firmly present. She will do an amazing job, so I’m not worried. I think a new story will develop.”
No conflict: just timing
Nam Ji Hyun’s clarification puts an end to speculation about creative disagreements or behind-the-scenes issues. His exit from “Good Comrade 2” it was purely due to scheduling conflicts, not dissatisfaction with the project.
