Soul, South-Nah Sang-Hyun Korea, main singer of the indie rock group Mr. Nah Band, issued public excuses on Friday after the accusations emerged that he sexually harassed a woman during a gathering drinking several years ago. The apologies, published on the Social Media X platform, follow an anonymous post accusing Nah of inappropriate behavior.
“I honestly apologize to anyone who may have felt uncomfortable or anguished because of my past behavior,” Nah wrote on X.
The anonymous post said Nah touched the thigh of a woman while pretending to be drunk during social meetings. The poster said: “I am writing vaguely to avoid identification. Since it happened in a private environment, there is no evidence”.
Nah recognized the accusation, admitting that he cannot remember the details due to intoxication but that he took responsibility for his actions. “I am deeply sorry to have caused damage and I have not apologized at that moment. Now I express my regret, even if late,” he said.
The singer noticed that he faced his behavior three or four years ago and has been working since then to face it. “After being called for my words and actions while I drink, I took time to reflect and I looked for help from those who surrounded me,” he wrote. “I will continue to work on myself and ensure that something like this never happens again. I apologize again with the affected person.”
Nah, graduated from Soul National University, formed Mr. Nah in 2014 with the drummer Kang Hyun-Woong after meeting a Campus songwriters club. The band, now a trio, has built a sequel in the independent music scene of South Korea.
The accusations come in the growing control of harassment in the entertainment sector, with recent cases involving a former manager of Omega X Label and poor conduct in a university retreat. Nah’s apologies have aroused online discussions, with fans and critics who place responsibility and personal growth.
Neither Nah nor Nah Band announced changes to their performance program. The direction of the band did not issue a declaration relating to the accusations.
