The famous composer and guitarist Jung Gu Hyeon, widely respected in the game music scene, recently offered a rare vision of the personalities of some of the greatest K-pop stars during an interview with Sports Korea. Having collaborated with groups such as Girls’ Generation, seventeen, stray and infinite, Jung warmly spoke of his experiences by working closely with these idols.
Stray Kids’ Seungmin: humble and laborious
Jung highlighted Seungmin by Stray Kids, with whom he collaborated for two dramatic soundtracks. “Few singers in Korea can use falsetto effectively, but Seungmin stands out with a voice that is both beautiful and incredibly faded,” he explained. Despite his demanding program, Seungmin came well prepared for recording sessions and even practiced choreography during the breaks. “It is the type of person who never rests,” added Jung, noting the genuine humility and Seungmin’s dedication.
Seventeen vocal units: talent and rooted
Reflecting on a project with seventeen Wood, DK and Seungkwan members, Jung has noticed their land behavior. “They can be stars, but they were so available,” he shared. The trio has recorded the track “is still beautiful” with great attention to vocal harmony, extending the recording process due to their commitment to perfect the mixture.
I-Telle’s Minnie: a voice with a single character
Jung also praised I -Tle Minnie, describing it as an exceptional singer. “His pronunciation was impeccable and his vocal tone was distinct,” he said. He recalled that he pushed Minnie to explore his range during the recording of his solo track, affected by his adaptability and growth throughout the process.
Infinite’s Nam Woo Hyun: a real collaborator
Among the artists with whom Jung worked, Nam Woo Hyun of Infinite has left a significant impression. “There is a synergy when we work together: we created songs in just half an hour,” said Jung. He praised the evolution and artistic intuition of Woo Hyun, calling him a perfect example of idol that has matured in a genuine artist.
Currently, Jung balances his time between game music (45%), OSTS drama (5%) and general pop music (10%). His admiration lies with the artists who show not only talents but growth, discipline and sincerity: how much years he found in the idols with whom he collaborated.
