Recently, the birth of actor Jung Woo-sung and model Moon Ga-bi’s son sparked controversy. In response, a divorce lawyer urged the couple to leave a positive example and change public perception of single-parent families, stating: “I hope they set a good precedent.”
On October 28, divorce lawyer Yang So-young uploaded a video to her YouTube channel titled “What should parents Jung Woo-sung and Moon Ga-bi do now.”
In the video, Lawyer Yang praised Moon Ga-bi for her courage in deciding to give birth and for carrying it to term. “We should celebrate the birth of this precious life,” he said.
She also addressed criticism surrounding Moon Ga-bi, with some accusing her of having the baby for financial reasons, saying: “This is something we need to think about. I hope Moon Ga-bi will take strong legal action against defamatory and slanderous comments.”
Yang pointed out that society’s judgment of the situation, questioning whether there are impure intentions, reflects prejudice against single mothers. “I hope that society can watch over children with loving eyes so that they can grow well” he added.
As for Jung Woo-sung, he praised his commitment to taking responsibility for the child“It’s not just about paying child support; as a father, he should do everything possible.He also highlighted the importance of “visitation rights,” which refers to the right of non-custodial parents to meet or contact their children.
Yang expressed hope that Jung Woo-sung can set a good example in this regard, saying: “Jung Woo-sung has always done a good job and I hope he will create a model case through his actions of meeting his son. His example can positively influence other families.”
On the other hand, Jung Woo-sung publicly addressed the issue for the first time on November 29 at the Blue Dragon Film Awards. He started by saying: “I am here today hoping that my private matters will not become a blot on the film ‘Seoul’s Spring,’ which I worked on with all parties involved.”
He continued, “I sincerely apologize for causing concern and disappointment to all who have supported and loved me. I will bear all criticism and take responsibility for it. As a father, I will fulfill my duties towards my son until the end.”
