Rumors surfaced on October 5 that BIGBANG might reunite for a group performance at this year’s MAMA Awards. The speculation began when Korean media News1 reported that BIGBANG members G-Dragon, Taeyang and Daesung may perform together at the 2024 MAMA Awards. If it were true, this would score the first time in almost a decade that the group has performed at a prestigious eventt, their last performance at the MAMA Awards was in 2015.
However, Mnet, the network behind the MAMA Awards, responded quickly to these reports. Later that morning, Mnet clarified that no decisions had been made regarding the official lineup of artists for the event.
In a statement, they said, “The list of artists who will participate in the 2024 MAMA Awards has not yet been decided,” leaving the possibility of a BIGBANG performance up in the air.
The 2024 MAMA Awards are particularly special this year, as they will take place over three days, covering two countries for the first time. The event will begin on November 21 at the Dolby Theater in Los Angeles, marking the first time the awards ceremony will be held in the United States. The second and third evenings will be hosted at the Kyocera Dome in Osaka, JapanON November 22nd and 23rd.
