Wang XingA Chinese actor who disappeared after responding to a casting call was recently rescued from a scam ring in Myanmar.

According to media reports, he had traveled to Bangkok on January 3 after being chosen by a Thai production team to participate in the filming of a film. But he lost contact later that same day in Mae Sot, a town in northwestern Thailand on the border with Myanmar. The place is infamous for fraud and criminal activities.

The actor’s disappearance became a hot topic after his girlfriend made an urgent plea for help on social media. In the post, he revealed that Wang was led through Thai immigration control by a person claiming to be a member of the film crew and taken to Mae Sot district.

The post prompted Thai police to launch an investigation and found Wang on January 6. It was confirmed that he was a victim of human trafficking and fraudulent organizations.

Thai police confirmed that Wang was tricked into entering Myanmar by fraudulent groups. In his testimony, the actor revealed that he was sent to an anti-fraud center by armed people and that there were at least 50 other people from different countries trapped in the same facility where he was.
