The Miss Universe Thailand 2025 contest is facing an intense backlash after several competitors broke into tears during the sales of compulsory live streaming, a controversial part of this year’s training field.
According to Thairath Thai Media Media, the competition began recently with 77 competitors representing each province, preparing for the crown. As part of their preparation, competitors were ordered to sell products live online an initiative launched by the director of the Nawat Itsaragisil competition.
The move immediately aroused public indignation. Many criticized the campaign, calling it exploiting and inappropriate for a beauty contest. Critics compared the AA process “Sales factory”, Where competitors are forced to meet the sales shares under emotional and mental pressure, while fans feel forced to buy products to support their favorites.
A particularly exciting moment became viral: a video captured NAF Chatnan, Miss Universe Pattani 2025, crying uncontrollable after it was told that it was to sell at least 5,000 products for a value of at least 5,000 baht. Another competitor, Tangkwa apped in the province of Sa Kaeo, also broke into tears during a live broadcast, overwhelmed by sales expectations.
In response, Nawat said he was not aware of the fact that Tangkwa had cried, and instead he had criticized her to arrive late and have made others wait. He added that competitors should reflect on their actions and behaviors before losing tears, suggesting that resilience and professionalism are key qualities for any future Miss Universe Thailand.
Nawat has previously said that this year’s competition aims to find women who are not only beautiful but entrepreneurial, self -sufficient and business experts. He underlined that the winner must demonstrate the ability to build and expand a business and even after his kingdom, he should evolve into a figure of celebrities that inspires others.
Despite these intentions, the campaign has fueled the heated debates online. Netizen are questioning the ethics of transforming beauty competitors into sales agents, especially when the emotional toll is visibly high. The public continues to request greater compassion and a revaluation of the values promoted in the modern parade.
