FT Island’s Choi Minhwan has revealed the three crises that plagued his marriage to Yulhee, formerly of LABOUM, ultimately leading to their split in December 2023.
Their divorce was reportedly mutual, but undisclosed details regarding their separation sparked speculation, particularly when Minhwan gained custody of their three children: a son and twin daughters.
Because of this, Yulhee was portrayed as a bad mother.
However, she bucked public scrutiny last October when she revealed she had severed ties with Choi over his frequent visits to adult facilities. She also filed a lawsuit against her ex-husband to quash the custody order.
This revelation also led to Choi’s hiatus from his career, as well as being investigated for soliciting a prostitute.

On January 13, in an exclusive interview with ShippingChoi has revealed surprising new details about his turbulent marriage to Yulhee. The “Love Sick” singer highlighted two other crises he experienced, in which he blamed his ex-wife.
“Yulhee sleeps very abnormally. Sometimes she sleeps 18 to 20 hours a day. If I tell her, she gets really angry. And (also) she ran away from home,” Choi complained, attributing that this behavior led Yulhee to neglect his responsibilities towards his family.
“He left home more than 20 times in five years (to get married). Who can stand it?”
When the interviewer considered that Yulhee must have been stressed caring for three children while serving in the military during the day (he commutes from social work to home), he dismissed this and explained that they had hired help.
“When I served in the military, we hired a caregiver, who came from 9:00 to 16:00. After work, I took care of the children. My mother also took care of household chores, such as preparing dinner, as well as raising the children. children. I never asked Yulhee to prepare dinner or do the dishes.”
The “BURN IT” singer spoke out before divorcing in 2021 but they have decided to reconcile.
But in 2023, another crisis occurred for the then-married couple when Choi noticed Yulhee’s frequent late-night escapades and escapes from home, which started for days but soon extended to weeks.
“Yulhee’s married life must not have been easy either. I understood and we reconciled. But after a while she left again. She put on makeup while the children went to bed. She went out in the evening and returned at 5 or at 6 in the morning. During the day he just slept. The next day and the day after that,” the star said, leading him to ask for a divorce.
