Min Hee-jin accuses HYBE’s CCO and PR director of ‘downplaying NewJeans’ achievements’

On November 26, Min Hee-jin’s team said: “Yesterday (November 25), we filed a complaint at Yongsan Police Station against HYBE Communications Manager Park Tae-hee and HYBE Public Relations Director Jo Sung-hoon for breach of duty.”

They further explained: “These individuals, as part of HYBE’s shared services PR organization, held an obligatory position in promoting NewJeans while receiving compensation from ADOR. However, instead of fulfilling their responsibilities, they downplayed the group’s achievements, causing significant damage to both ADOR and NewJeans. We hope for criminal sanctions appropriate to their misdeeds.”

Currently, Min Hee-jin has announced her intention to step down as ADOR’s internal director. Additionally, it filed a lawsuit against executives of HYBE’s subsidiary label Belift Lab, including CEO Kim Tae-ho, for defamation under the Information and Communication Network Act. It also sought damages of KRW 5 billion.

Min Hee-jin has been embroiled in a legal dispute with HYBE since April, as the two parties have maintained starkly opposing positions. At the time, HYBE launched an audit of ADOR’s management, led by Min Hee-jin, accusing it of acts such as breach of duty and attempting to take managerial control. Min, however, countered that the main conflict stemmed from HYBE’s Belift Lab label allegedly plagiarizing the NewJeans concept for his group ILLIT.

Ultimately, HYBE fired Min Hee-jin from her CEO position on August 27 and made her internal director instead. Subsequently, on October 30, ADOR’s board of directors rejected Min’s proposal to reinstate her as CEO.

Amid these developments, Min Hee-jin recently notified HYBE of his intention to exercise a put option for his shares in ADOR. Additionally, on November 13, NewJeans members sent a certified letter to ADOR CEO Kim Joo-young, requesting the correction of “violations of exclusive contract terms,” hinting at a potential departure from the agency.
