In an interview with Ilgan Sports on February 5, MC Mong strongly rejected the claims while expressing frustration over the controversy. “It’s not prostitution” he said excitedly. “One of them is my girlfriend. Who would hire their girlfriend to prostitute themselves?”
The artist clarified that the man seen in the controversial footage was a younger acquaintance, while among the three women present, one was his girlfriend, another was a friend of his girlfriend and the third was someone he met for the first time that day.
MC Mong explained that they spent about two or three hours together before suddenly starting to discuss company matters related to President Cha Ga-won, around the time he decided to step down from his executive role at One Hundred. According to him, the women left the meeting afterwards. “I don’t know what jobs they may have done in the past” he stated. “But is it right to raise allegations of prostitution and talk about my girlfriend like that? Reporting such suspicions in itself is harmful.”
The allegations first surfaced through claims introduced on the Chosun TV program Shintongbangtongwhich refers to content from a YouTube channel managed by Sunday diary. The claims were based on CCTV footage from the lift at MC Mong’s apartment complex.
The footage reportedly showed three women and a man riding together in an elevator. Residents of the apartment reportedly filed complaints suspecting prostitution activity inside the building, prompting the management office to review and release the footage. Some reports claimed that the women were hostesses working in the entertainment industry.
MC Mong previously explained to the outlet that the meeting was simply a dinner and wine party with acquaintances. When asked about reports that some women worked in nightclubs, he replied: “Working in a bar doesn’t automatically mean someone is involved in prostitution.”
The footage is said to have been recorded before MC Mong resigned from his position as co-CEO of One Hundred last year. Some claims suggest the incident influenced his resignation, although this remains unconfirmed. MC Mong has been at the center of multiple controversies recently, including rumors of an alleged affair involving p Arc Group president Cha Ga-won. The singer also strongly denied such accusations.
