MBLAQ’s Mir gets married to a non-famous girlfriend days before Christmas

MBLAQ rapper-singer Mir will exchange vows with his non-celebrity fiancée on December 21, making him the third member of the K-pop group to get married.

The private wedding ceremony will take place at 5.30pm at a wedding venue in Seongnam, Gyeonggi Province, less than four days before Christmas. His girlfriend is reportedly a year older than Mir. The wedding will take place after the 34-year-old has dated his girlfriend for a long time, according to a relationship.

Born Bang Cheolyong, Mir has kept a low profile throughout his personal life, channeling his creative energy into his family’s hugely popular YouTube channel, “The Burst,” which he hosts with his sister, actress Go Eun-ah.

The channel, which also features Bang family matriarch Hyo-jin, has amassed over 700,000 subscribers showcasing the hilarious daily dynamics and genuine warmth shared between members of the Bang family. Reports indicate his relatives and the entire idol family are looking forward to welcoming his bride into the circle.

Mir will now become the third MBLAQ member to get married. Member GO married actress Choi Ye-seul in September 2019, while former member Thunder married former Gugudan member Mimi in May 2024.

MBLAQ (Music Boys Live in Absolute Quality) emerged as one of K-pop’s most promising groups after debuting on October 15, 2009, at their mentor Rain’s Legend of Rainism concert in Seoul. Created under Rain’s J. Tune Camp entertainment company, the five-member group – Seungho (leader), GO (lead singer), Mir (rapper), Lee Joon (singer), and Thunder (singer/rapper) – immediately grabbed attention with their polished performances and compelling discography.

The group’s debut single album Just BLAQ, released on October 14, 2009, topped various online and offline music charts in South Korea with its lead track “Oh Yeah”. Their album earned them numerous Best Rookie and Newcomer awards.

MBLAQ reached their commercial peak between 2010 and 2013, releasing a string of memorable hits. Their 2010 extended play Y earned him his first music chart win on M! Countdown on June 3, 2010. The group eventually secured three music show wins throughout their career.

In December 2014, Lee Joon and Thunder announced their departure from the group after their contracts expired. The remaining trio—Seungho, GO, and Mir—continued with their eighth mini-album Mirror, released on June 9, 2015, marking their first and last comeback as three members.

After Mirror, MBLAQ went into an unofficial hiatus. GO enlisted for military service in 2016, and the group never reunited for official promotions again. In February 2017, GO revealed in sincere statements that all three remaining members were no longer signed to J. Tune Camp.
