The culprit behind the Asian Airlines the plane door fiasco was taken to court and ordered to pay damages for the accident.
On May 25, KST, an Asiana flight from Jeju-do to Daegu left passengers in shock when the doors opened mid-flight. The plane’s emergency exit suddenly opened as it was preparing to land and the plane was at an approximate altitude of 700-800 feet. Several passengers reportedly fainted from fear. Some of them, including elementary school students, had to be taken to the hospital immediately after landing because they were having difficulty breathing.

Asiana Airlines immediately launched an investigation into the matter and it turned out that a 32-year-old man, Mr. A, was behind the fiasco. During questioning, the man told officials that he opened the emergency exit because “he felt suffocated and wanted to get off the plane quickly.”
The suspect was brought to trial on September 5 at the Civil Division 12 of the Daegu District Court. Judge Chae Seong Ho ordered him to pay â‚©727 million KRW (about $545,000 USD) in damages to the airline. According to the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport, the estimated cost of repairs for the plane was about [kwr] 640 million [/krw].
Meanwhile, the prosecution has appealed the verdict of the first trial and brought additional charges against Mr A for traumatizing the passengers with his prank.
