Ahead of Hwasa’s solo comeback, the excerpt from her second mini-album’s title track, “NA,” raised eyebrows because it sounded like a PSY song.
On September 19, the “K-pop Diva” will return to the music scene with her new album, “O,” which represents her desire to become a “me” who lives as round and flexible as a circle.
The album also features the self-titled track, “NA,” which aims to capture Hwasa’s appeal as an “independent artist who isn’t bound by the gaze of others.”

Ahead of its release, an excerpt of the song was teased via a trailer MV and audio on TikTok, sparking excitement among K-pop fans.
However, even before the full version was released, “NA” had failed to impress music fans, especially K-Netz, due to its lyrics and beat.
According to Netters, the song sounds like something PSY, the CEO of Hwasa’s current agency, P-NATION, will release.
In 2012, the veteran singer became a global star after his hit song, “Gangnam Style,” and listening to both songs, “NA” seemed to be trying to recreate that trend, given its uncanny similarities.
Hwasa’s fans were disappointed that the female idol still hasn’t managed to pursue her unique direction and image, even 10 years after her debut as MAMAMOO.

Here are some comments:
- “I don’t like it because it sounds like a PSY song.”
- “This is really like PSY’s Gangnam Style.”
- “Even the singing style seems similar.”
- “Huh, seriously, why did you use that as a title? Is that really a song that PSY gave you? There’s a lot of really good songs on the album when you listen to them.”
Meanwhile, in addition to “NA”, Hwasa’s second mini-album will also feature a self-titled B-side along with “Road”, “EGO”, “OK NEXT”, “just want to have some fun” and “O”, which aims to spread the different messages she wishes to convey in the entertainment landscape.
