MAMAMOO Hwasa looked back on an unpleasant experience with her previous company and how she dealt with the CEO’s strict dietary requirements.
On September 17, the K-pop diva appeared on “The K-star Next Door,” where she opened up about meeting her former CEO when she was still a trainee.
Jonathan, the host of the program, brought up the topic after reading aloud Hwasa’s nickname “K-Gangster Wife,” as the idol apparently used to “beat up boys since elementary school.”
He was visibly surprised after reading her profile in a plastic folder, but Hwasa clarified: “At that time, even if you said ‘Hey,’ they would call you a gangster’s wife.”

She went on to say that whenever the boys were mean to the girls, she was the one to step up and stop them. However, it was not Hwasa, but her two older sisters who actually held the title of “gangster wives.”
Hwasa then recalled a time when, in high school, she was beaten by a boy and one of her sisters got so angry that she later took revenge.
“He was beaten up pretty bad,” Hwasa said, then shared a good laugh with Jonathan.
“I expected you to improve as you grew up, but when you almost got fired as an intern, did you vent to your boss over email?” the host asked.
The “Maria” singer said she weighed 60 kg and that the company asked her to lose weight up to 48 kg.

Unfortunately, despite her efforts, she only managed to reduce her weight to 49 kg. Because she did not meet the weight requirements, her then CEO wanted to fire her, which made her angry.
“After a meeting with him, I wrote a song about my feelings. The title was ‘My Heart.’ What my boss expected to see was an apology,” Hwasa said.
Then, she surprised Jonathan when she revealed, “He actually liked me more after that.”
The host went on to say that it’s not easy for a female trainee to say what Hwasa said. But the idol confessed that she just thought it would be cool to try, earning praise from the host.
