On November 21 (PST), the first day of the 2024 MAMA Awards (2024 MAMA Day 1) was held at the Dolby Theater in Los Angeles, California, United States.
The event, hosted by popular actor Park Bo-gum, attracted attention as it kicked off one of Korea’s biggest music awards ceremonies.
On this day, the winners of subcategories, such as rookie awards and performance awards, were announced, with artists TWS, RIIZE, ILLIT, Young Posse and JYPark delivering outstanding performances.
Some groups have also done special covers of popular senior artists, including BTS, TWICE and NCT 127.

Meanwhile, during this awards ceremony, ILLIT attracted attention with its acceptance speech that seemingly alluded to the “ILLIT NewJeans copying controversy.”
RIIZE also addressed the departure of former boy group member Seunghan.
