On the morning of September 11, an interview was held with Jung Hae-in regarding her film “I, The Executioner” (“Veteran 2”) (directed by Ryu Seung-wan) at a bar in Samcheong-dong, Seoul.
“Veteran 2” is an action-investigation film that follows veteran detective Seo Do-cheol (played by Hwang Jung-min) of the Serious Crimes Investigation Unit as he chases a notorious serial killer, with rookie detective Park Sun-woo (played by Jung Hae-in) joining the team.
Jung Hae-in plays the role of Park Sun-woo, the newest member of the Serious Crimes Investigation Unit. In his previous roles in the series “DP” and the movie “Spring of Seoul,” Jung impressed audiences with his military uniforms and continued to capture attention in “Veteran 2” with his police uniform.
He commented: “I have received a lot of love playing roles with “government jobs”,” adding, “I think people have a certain image of me. However, I fear that this perception may change with this new role.“
Jung Hae-in is also currently appearing on tvN’s “Love Next Door” and said, “It seems like it’s been a long time since I’ve played a carefree character. I think this is the first time since 2019.”
He added: “I was also happy to laugh on the set. The drama is heading towards the climax and there will be a lot of scenes that viewers are eagerly waiting for. There will be so many that you might even think, “Please, stop!”, so I hope you are looking forward to it.“
When asked about his chemistry with Jung So-min, his co-star in “Love Next Door,” Jung Hae-in explained, “So-min and I are only a year apart and our characters are childhood friends. We knew we had to be comfortable with each other, otherwise it would feel awkward.“
He continued: “Both So-min and I are introverts, but once introverts become close, they have that childhood friend vibe. We started playing pranks on each other. I don’t usually joke much, but she was good at receiving my jokes, so it made me feel more comfortable. In previous projects, I felt like I had to be mature and keep the center, but in “Love Next Door,” So-min took a leadership role on set, which allowed me to relax and have fun.“
When asked if fans hope the two become a couple in real life, Jung Hae-in replied with a smile, “No comment,” but he added, “Our chemistry on set was incredible, truly unprecedented.“
He also mentioned: “The entire cast of “Love Next Door” said they’re coming to the premiere of “Veteran 2.” I’m very grateful, but also a little nervous.“
Meanwhile, “Veteran 2”, starring Jung Hae-in, is scheduled to be released on the 13th of this month.
